Hi Michael, I'm not really that interested in hiding the chips in wooden pieces as I am not that skilled with my hands (besides the fact I have essential tremor).

I simply wanted to know what surface the chips stick best to and using which adhesive?

The chips are selfadhesive and stick very good. Just remove the protection foil and stick them.

I stuck them to a wooden base and covered them again with new felt. But I am sure they will stick on any typical material, used for standard chess pieces. (Plastic, wood, felt...)

Hi again Richard

Well as Michael was point out they stick quite good on all surfaces they can stick on plastic, wood and also felt. So they will stay in positiont as the 3M tape is quite strong bonding. So you will be ok with their just sticky tape.

If you want to remove it can be also possbile just try to rotate them on vertical axis so break bonding before peeling. But you then need to reapply the double side sticky tape or use bit of hot glue which is ok if you rebond to felt or wood on plastic specifically pvc the hot glue does not grip well. If you attach on felt an you want to remove they will peel some tissue.

Hope this helps but feel free to ask in case you need more information

All the best

If there came a time I wanted to change the chips to a different 32 pc set, what would be the best way to ptrpare (clean/scrape/sand) the chips?

Hi Richard

Ok depends on where you put before. Normally after you detach from let's say clean surface like plastic you should they will come out quite clean already and be able to stick again to another surface else if you may want to add an additional disk of biadhesive or bit of glue.

If you have previuosly stuck onto felt they will pull bit of tissue so won't be anymore sticking  you may clean with some alchool or try to remove the bisadhesive and again replace with bi adhesive disck or use some glue.

All the best

Pietro
