Quote from julkal on March 19, 2024, 9:14 pmBear chess now works fine with the BT Module. Chessconnect doesn´t. It connects to the board and pieces are recognized but moves are neither transmitted to lichess nor are the moves of lichess transmitted to the board (with Android /Kiwi). As Bearchess works fine, it seems that the issue is not the BT Module or the BT LE image, but some issue with chessconnect in combination with the module and/or Android /Kiwi?

Hi Julian
If it does recognise piece and connect everything should be fine. Have you tried with chess.com? Sorry stupid question for Lichess can you check the token is correct ? Check in the extension setup under lichess setting that you have your lichess username and token correct.

Quote from julkal on March 20, 2024, 11:54 amMaybe it´s the token. I used the same token as in cer2nut (Both with Android/Kiwi). I thought that this is ok, but maybe I need a different token for different boards (cert2nut transforms my Certabo in a chessnut board)
I tried chessconnect with PC (EDGE) and on PC it doesn´t work with the token I coppied from my Android device (cer2nut). I generated a new token, and now, chessconnect on PC works (allow it need´s very long to recognize the board)
Do I have to create a separat token for different boards and/or different devices (Android/PC)?
UPDATE: I tried chessconnect with Android and PC on Lichess and chess.com
Everything works on PC with chessconnect/Edge and BTLE images on BT module but nothing works on Android with Kiwi and chessconnect (with BTLE image on BT module). On Lichess, the pieces and board are recognized but moves are not transmitted, on chess.com, connection is established but moves are not transmitted as well.

Quote from julkal on March 26, 2024, 5:08 pmI now also tried a newer phone with Android 13. But no way. Pieces and board in chessconnect are recognized but no move is transmitted from the board to lichess or chess.com.
The image of Esp32 works, the image of Pizero W simply doesn´t work at all.

Quote from tobias on March 26, 2024, 5:36 pmSame here,
the ESP32-S3 image works fine for chessconnect and BearChess at this time.
The PiZero Image doesn´t work for me. Neither BearChess nor chessconnect nor Gahams updated driver.

I also had problems with BearChess first. But after I have chosen BTLE in the configuration box manually BearChess works fine with PiZero w.

Quote from tbarman on May 11, 2024, 8:12 pmHello, after reading about chessconnect and the new BLE image , I pulled my "old style" BT module from the bottom drawer and gave it a try.
Unfortunately, I can't get a connection via bluetooth. Has anyone successfully connected using a recent Mac? Here is my setup:
1. 2022 Macbook Air (with Edge Browser and chessconnect extension installed, settings set to Bluetooth connect for Certabo boards)
2. Old-styple bluetooth module from Certabo with new BLE .img flashed to sd card.
I can see the BT module / Ras pi showing up in the list of discovered bluetooth devices on my macbook, but that is about it. Will not connect. Chessconnect searches for a while then times out.
I have logged on to the BT module / Ras pi and verified that it is on. I also cycled discoverable off/on and checked the status (with service bluetooth status" and the only potentially bad thing I noticed was "Failed to set privacy: Rejected (0x0b) (in ominous red letters!)
I also found ~/BLE/run.sh and executing this script results in "No such file or directory: '/dev/ttyUSB0"
That is my experience so far. Anyone else have better luck on a recent macbook air? Thank you in advance for suggestions.
UPDATE: I gave up on my mac+bluetooth and purchased a cheap Android tablet. The android device, Kiwi, and chessconnect appear to be working with bluetooth connection to the certabo module. Problem solved 🙂
Also, I should have mentioned previously, my macbook and chessconnect do recognize my board just fine using the USB cable.
