DaVinci Extreme locks up

I updated the firmware in my DaVinci Extreme about a month ago using DaVinci_4.0_Jan_2021_BT_OL_Maia.zip

Ever since then it seems like the device lockups frequently. Just this morning it locked up twice. The games will play for a while, a couple dozen moves or so then the unit just locks up. The only way to get out of it is by disconnecting the power. The first game was using MAME and the Mephisto Amsterdam ROM and the other was with an engine called Vajolet.

Is there an event viewer, log file to look at that might describe what the issue is? I am not very familiar with raspberry pi devices.

Thank you for your report yes it would be great if we can see some logs. Yes you can open a log window and take sceeen shot as on PC.

To do this better to connect to pi remotely via PC using tightvncviewer, https://tightvnc.software.informer.com/download/?ca20fe20 similar program you use for connecting from the phone or tablet.

Just turn phon on it and connect from PC so you can run remotely the DaVinci screen on PC

Then go in davinci folder and edit the file screen.ini changing the second row from fullscreen to window. This way the GUi is launched in window mode and you will see another window in background with all the log, errors so you can grab a screenshot when it's freezing that should show some error in engine or whatever.

Ok, I followed the directions but I don't see a secondary window in the background when DaVinci is in window mode. I did attach a screenshot, you can see I can't force to move and I can't exit either. The lights on the board just continue to flash. This was with the Amsterdam ROM.

Hi Cpuchess

Yes right you cannot see the log window if you launch with double click on icon. Please do this way

open a terminal and digit

cd davinci

and then

sh start_chess.sh

it will launch the software but will log all in the terminal window you launched from, so you can check when it stucks what is the error reporting

Thanks Pietro, that process worked. So I loaded the engine "Ethereal" and once the engine leaves book the clock stops and the Certabo gui locks up. See attached error message. Let me know what I need to do to correct it please. Thank you..

Any thoughts about the error "Indexerror: index out of range" shown in the post above?
