Flashed the image, using raspberry pi imager on a Macbook.

At first had very strange behaviour on the touchscreen. When I commented out the "swapxy=1" bit from the /boot/config.txt file. I could use the touchscreen.

Choosing engines and starting a game works perfectly. I work with the USB connection. Still have tot test the lichess functionality

The 4.5 for Mac is ready and yes you can play with Avatar too only problem is that we have not yet managed to make a proper installation app yet 🙁

1-Unzip

2-Open a terminal in the directory and do this command

chmod +x main

chmod +x online

3- type ./main

and the software shall start the Avatar is included so you should be able to select it

Rememeber you need also to do chmod +x avatar or any other engine you like to use in engines folder

If for  example you want to just add Lc0 eventually you have to do chmod +x Lc0 from a terminal and it shall appear in the menu for selection.

I googled around a bit, and found that since with MacOS's new security schemes every user will be running into this. They keep track of the .zip file downloaded, even if I rename it, even if I use command line unzip, and mark every file inside it as unsafe... to protect us from potential malware.

The next command is necessary to resolve the issue:

xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine path/to/Certabo4.5Mac

After this all runs fine now.

However, this is not the version with the mods by Elia? Will these fantastic mods be available for Mac as well?

Yes sorry  that was the 4.5_Avatar i misunderstood  🙁 here the 4.52 with Elia modifications and DaVinci graphics 🙂  for Mac (the mess emulator still need to compile for Mac) anyhow all other functions work make sure you put engine compiled for Mac. Please let also know if you see any bug.

Why can't it be possible to play from a "saved" position with the ROMS.

You can choose the ROMS "save slate" option which enables you to save the game position of the ROM then select option "load slate" which enables you to carry on playing from the saved position latter.
