Yes this is bit outdated topic in effect. Well here some more additional information. There are two ways to play on Lichess.

About one and half year ago we developed a software to recognise remote board, with that we could actually detect the pieces on pc screen and generate the input move using a feature available on lichess which allow you to use keyboard rather than mouse.

Theoretically this could be used to automate some move inputs and could be for example done by software running a chess engine ,so for that as there was no actual way to detect if the move is was human or bot Lichess put in same category not allowing for rated games so that why we adviced to use with bot account only.

Later this year around February 2020 Lichess has instead opened its servers to directly connect to e-boards via their API  (applicaton programming interface) , and we were happy as now the eboard can directly interact with Lichess Server sending and receiving moves etc via standard http format basically from any device supporting the http protocol phone, pc etc. and  with no limitation for human rated game which can be freely played. This way is actually the right and natural way as interacts directly to Lichess server, and it's not dependent on other piece of software. You require the token for that to authenticate and selecting the Api board you allow the direct dialogue between eboards and server side etc.

After that in few days a Certabo friend Harald Klein has developed an open source client app for the Certabo board and we took this cool piece of software we twicked a bit just to share calibration file and minor changes and we finally implemented in standard software since version 3.5 on as natural extension of the software. After that in june we implemented the API interface also on Certabodroid where the phone works exactly the same way using the Api interface made available from Lichess. We made beta release for the Android app July this year and we released in october after getting some feedbacks.

Will I get banned from lichess if I continue to play using the Firefox driver? So far the playing experience with Lichess is great.

Remember to flag the board Api, if you still have trouble let us know so will help but it should be stright forward plase copy differentiaing capital letters and wait some monute for activation eventually.
