Is anyone aware of any Certabo compatible software that uses an opening book?

Pietro if you are reading this, you definitely need to add an Opening Book for all the other engines to use.

Quote from Pietro on February 9, 2019, 1:12 pmHi Bryan Cameron good day
To add some note also Fruit Reloaded has nice opening book built in. The Cerebellum book which is one of the most diffused is supported by Brainfish and SugaR too for example.
But not all engines can support opening books at UCI level, some of them can call them at uci level, some of them need a separate integration in GUI (e.g. Stockfish) which we for sure we definitively will do soon (else if i'm not sure all the engine will anyhow take them). Anyhow before that we had to update the chess platform to latest python-chess which was necessary to do so and from 2.7 we have this new platform running. In the meantime i leave here some links where you can find several engines and many of them comes already with books.

BTW (FYI)
We have just integrated 1Gb endgame table base in the PI version (which can be activated or not). We can bring to PC and Mac too if you think it's worth
All the best

Quote from Pietro on April 18, 2019, 9:35 pmHello everybody
We added the opening book section to the GUI now is very easy to start with books, in main selecting window you see on left book menu just click and select which book you want to use.
Every UCI should run with any book and as you do for engines do the same with book and copy your book with .bin extension in the book directory and it will be shown for selecting.
Please send me a pm and will send a link to download an alpha version you can test before we release. To test no need to install, just unzip go in unzipped directory and double click on run.exe.
We are now digging with the analysis mode, not yet there we will release new version with those both improvements but in the meantime have a trial with the books and let us have feedback.
All the best

Quote from Liquinaut on March 7, 2021, 8:37 amHey there,
I have a question regarding opening books and variatons. Using the latest DaVinci Software on Raspberry Pi and playing with any of the opening books, Certabo seems not to use any variation in it's opening moves. While it certainly does use the chosen opening book (moves are different from the standard engine openings), the moves that are played do not vary at all.
For example, if I select the Cerebellum_2019 book for use with stockfish, choose white and play standard e4, Certabo will always answer with d5. Thereafter my move Nc3 will be followed by Nf6 and so on. This is reproducable 100% of the time with other books as well.
It seems as if the Certabo Software will always play the first (or most likely) variation it finds in the book instead of choosing different opening variations based on some sort of randomization. Shouldn't that be the purpose of using an opening book at all? Or am I missing something here?
Thank you,
Paul

Quote from Graham on March 8, 2021, 3:00 amJust a quick note that I wrote a program to convert Arena (.ABK) and Chessmaster (.OBK) opening books into the BIN format required by Pietro's software. Since Arena allows creating books from PGN files that might be useful if you want to create your own book.
